AEMPD DJ Contest Rules - Fall 2023

Association of Electronic Music Producers and DJs, Inc, a Connecticut Non-Profit Corporation (“AEMPD”)

1. Eligibility and Submission

1.1. Entrants must carefully read and understand all instructions, qualifications, and rules outlined below before participating to ensure eligibility.

1.2. Entrants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of submission.

1.3. All submissions must consist of a DJ mix lasting over 30 minutes, representing any electronic music genre.

1.4. Submissions must be received no later than September 20, 2023.

2. Selection of Winners

2.1. The contest will have two distinct ways to win: the Juried Awards and the Community Choice Awards.

2.2. Winners of the Juried Awards will be chosen by the Association DJ Contest Committee and will be announced on November 15th, 2023.

2.3 Community Choice Awards winners will be determined through public voting within the larger electronic music community. Voting will conclude at midnight on October 30th, and winners will be subsequently announced.

2.3.1 Voters may cast their votes through two designated platforms: the official aempd.org website and on Instagram. Each of these platforms offers a unique opportunity to vote, and it is important to note that each vote submitted through these platforms will be treated as distinct and separate votes.

2.3.2 Website: Voting Procedure: To participate in the voting process on the official contest website, participants must use the form designated on aempd.org and provide their email and name, along with the DJ sets for which they are casting their votes.

2.3.2 Instagram: Voting on Instagram necessitates the following steps: 1) following the official AEMPD Instagram account, and 2) adding a comment in the designated “Voting Post” with the name of the DJ sets for which they wish to cast their votes. This post will be pinned in the @getaemd Instagram grid.

2.3.3 Participants are entitled to exercise their voting privileges on both platforms, namely the official contest website and Instagram, during each voting period.

2.3.4 Participants may repeatedly vote for the same DJ mix entry separately each week of the contest. Each week's vote will be regarded as an additional entry in favor of the selected entry.

3. Participation

3.1. The contest is open to all interested individuals, regardless of membership status. No membership is required to participate.

3.2. Voting for the Community Choice Awards is open to the general public. Any individual can cast their votes for the Community Choice portion of the contest.

4. Submission Guidelines

4.1. To enter, participants must provide their DJ name, valid email address, and submit a DJ set. The submitted set does not have to be exclusively created for this contest and may be a previously recorded mix.

4.2. The submitted DJ mix must be at least 30 minutes in duration.

4.3. The DJ mix must be uploaded to platforms such as Mixcloud, Soundcloud, or YouTube.

4.4. When entering the contest, participants must provide a direct link to the mix they are submitting.

4.5. Each individual is allowed to submit only one mix for the contest.

5. Prizes

5.1. Winners of the Juried Awards will receive the following prizes:

5.2. Winners of the Community Choice Awards will receive the following prizes:

Second Place: To be determined

6. Community Choice Voting Process

6.1. Voting for the Community Choice Awards will take place via the AEMPD.org website and via Instagram.

6.2. Voting will commence immediately and will conclude at midnight on September 30th.

6.3. Each individual may cast only one vote per category.

6.4. The Community Choice Award winners will be determined based on the total number of valid votes received for each finalist.
